Today the College celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony Day is held on 21 March in Australia and is intended to show cohesion and inclusion in Australia, and promote a tolerant and culturally diverse society.

Harmony Day began in 1999, coinciding with the United Nations  and each year, it is marked by people coming together and participating in local activities. The continuing message of Harmony Day is 'Everyone Belongs'. It is about community participation, inclusiveness, celebrating diversity, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

The College celebrated Harmony Day by hosting a group of visitors from Mulan who are studying at La Salle Catholic College, Middle Swan and also a number of students from Clontarf Aboriginal College. Communities themselves decide how they would like to come together to mark the occasion.  The College community held a basketball game at lunchtime, and other activities between recess and lunch. It is important to recognise the role and positive influence sport has in Australia, and how barriers are broken simply by playing a game of basketball. Students also watched videos learning more about Aboriginal culture.

This celebration is another opportunity for us all to come together and thank all of the communities and people who have made this the day what it is, and look forward to our shared future. Students and staff from all three schools interacted, and visibly enjoyed this experience. It was an opportunity for all to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia.
